Beauty on the Waterfront

This is the Lake Harriet Bandshell along the Chain of Lakes in Minneapolis. It has such a unique place there along the lake with the sailboats in the back. I have never been there for a concert, but I bet it would be fun.

Surprised by the Pictures

Take a close look at the upper lily flower and you will see a dragon fly sitting there. No, I didn't see that when I took the picture. Lines, Circles, Faces

The Guthrie Theater along the river in downtown Minneapolis is a photogenic building. At first it seems like odd angles and such. But take a look at a picture. See the shifts and changes. It now looks like a jazz arrangement put into a building. Quite a place to see theater as well!

Ghostly Alternative

Well at least the wind turbine looks kind of ghostly in this picture. Taken along the Shooting Star Trail in southern MN in an area that has hundreds of such turbines.

Cold War Reality

This is the then famous, Checkpoint Charlie. It was the Allied/American sector way into East Berlin in 1970. Perhaps one day I will talk about that over on my regular blog. I no longer remember why the flag is at half mast.

Sometimes you can get just the right angle to get a flower arrangement without any arranging. This one was at Quarry Hill Nature Center in Rochester, MN.

At Lock and Dam # 6

The lock has just opened to let the pleasure boat go north on the Mississippi at Lock and Dam # 6 at Trempealeau, WI. It was a Sunday and few barges were traveling. That would be interesting.

One has to be quick with the shutter some times to catch a deer. This was along the Root River Trail in southeastern Minnesota.

Remembering Labor Day

Abandoned and forgotten, part of the old Bethlehem Steel plant in Bethlehem, PA. Someday even these will be lost to time. But the men and women who worked hard in these factories are every bit as much American heroes as anyone. The American worker- often out of sight and out of mind. Thanks, on Labor Day, 2009.

Still Goose-Stepping in 1970

A German Memorial in what was then East Berlin under communist control. It was eerie to stand and watch soldiers goosestepping only 25 years after World War II.

Lazy Bee

I know it's hard to tell with a still picture, but this bee was moving very slow. It was a chilly morning on the Great River Trail in western Wisconsin and he was just crawling along the flowers but still gathering pollen.
