Take a close look at the upper lily flower and you will see a dragon fly sitting there. No, I didn't see that when I took the picture. That's one of the joys of photography- discovering how things turn out better than you thought. There's more to each picture than meets the eye. From the Quarry Hill Nature Center in Rochester, MN. I know it's hard to tell with a still picture, but this bee was moving very slow. It was a chilly morning on the Great River Trail in western Wisconsin and he was just crawling along the flowers but still gathering pollen. Date: August 30, 2009
No, these aren't in the wild but in a tank at the Quarry Hill Nature Center in Rochester, MN. But they were so photogenic and just sat there looking at me. Date: August 3, 2009
Purple Coneflower and two animals sharing its pollen. This may be one of my favorite pictures from the 60 mile bike hike along Pine Creek in northern Pennsylvania. Date: August 3, 2008
Taken in Arizona, this was scanned from a photo. At first I thought the lines from a fence surrounding the prairie dogs took away from the picture. Now, they add a uniqueness to it that actually made me wonder who was truly fenced in. Date: April, 1995
Today I begin a regular series of pictures from Spain, from a trip we took in 2002. From Seville, I couldn't resist taking a picture of this wonderful looking dog. Or is it a small lion? Date: 4/2/2002
A mastodon skeleton- or at least the tusks of one- in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This is one of the most important such digs with more skeletons than can be counted at this point. Don't meet one in a dark alley.
This is the photoBlog of pmPilgrim. I have been taking pictures with all kinds of cameras since I was 8 or 9 years old. I may even scan some of those in and post them, too. That's a lot of years of pictures.
I now have a Nikon D40 digital SLR with Nikon zoom lenses. Most pictures taken after June 15, 2007 will probably be with this camera.
Before that I was using a Casio QV-3000EX since 2002. It still is a remarkable camera for its age and style.
