Flag and Leaves

Flag & Tree along Cannon Valley Trail
Tomorrow is Election Day, 2008. It may be the greatest act of patriotism we have available to all of us. This flag along the Cannon Valley Trail in eastern Minnesota is our reminder of who we are and the great responsibility we have to vote.

Veteran's Day

Flag
My father's grave, a veteran's grave, in Jersey Shore, PA, cemetery. He didn't die in WW II where he was a medical corpsman, but a piece of him did. War does awful things to everyone involved. Today let us give thanks for those who were willing to take all those risks and serve. May we always welcome them home with support and love.

Independence Day, 2007

Ellis13
I have admired this flag motif at the Ellis Island Center in New York/New Jersey (whichever it is really in). Ellis Island is where so many of our ancestors entered the United States helping us become the great and diverse nation we are today.
Happy Birthday, United States of America!

Flags Reflected at Ground Zero

FlagsAtWTCYou're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.

You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.

But should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
